FeedBurner problem

Hi!! Sorry all my posts just came up all at once! I found out today that none of my posts had been going through the reader since Aug. 19th! It was a problem with FeedBurner.com.......has anyone else had a problem with them?

Anyway, it seems fixed now.......sorry for the flood of posts all at once! I hope you'll go back and check them out though!

Oh Kindergarten........

Oh kindergarten teachers, my thoughts are with you as you start/started the school year.

I have taught several years of kindergarten in the past, and while I do love it...........I have to be honest and say I do not love the first day. (don't hate me)

Here is why:
-the crying (kids and parents)
-the screaming crying
-the vomiting (from the anxiety)
-the "runners" (the ones that run after their parents when they leave)
-the screaming crying
-hovering parents peeking through the window
-lunchtime
-dismissal (ah!! don't run off!)
-the screaming crying

Please don't misinterpret this as a negative kindergarten rant.....I really DO love kindergarten! I just think the first day [depends on the kiddos] can be exceptionally difficult...............which leads me to some

Harcourt Storytown and some websites : )

Hello! I should really be in bed now, but I wanted to watch the closing ceremonies of the Olympics here in London-town! I watched so much Olympics during these past 2 weeks that I can actually say I am now over it! It was great though!

Well it seems I missed this big TPT sale that is finishing today--I just saw that everywhere today when I was catching up on blogs. Oh well : )  My husband and I are moving into a new flat/apartment and we spent the weekend painting, getting tools together and started our up-cycling projects! I am so excited to see what we can make with recycled wood, crates and pallets! So fun!

Common Core: Journals/Notebooks

{{ FLASH FREEBIE!!}}

I will call this a flash freebie as I am giving away my manual (How to use K-2 journals) FREE this weekend!

This is a concept that I have been using for several years now and is far and away the greatest teaching tool that I learned from teaching in England and Australia.

I have seen this concept pick up a bit in the the United States, but is hard to translate for our little guys in K-2 classrooms.  I originally wrote this manual for my K-2 teacher friends that started using this method of journals, and then others wanted it, and it has grown from there!

I know schools are starting soon in the States, so I hope you all had a nice summer and are relaxed and rested for the new school year!

My latest resource is also free just for the weekend (for you loyal followers!)

Unrelated to teaching, check out this street performer we saw last weekend...so great!!

Comments always appreciated!!

Many Thanks,

Classroom pictures!!

I have really enjoyed seeing all the photos of your rooms--keep them coming!!

Schools don't start here until September, so I thought I would sift through some of my photos of things I've made or come across. I'm hoping next summer I will be in Arizona visiting so that I can help my friends in their classrooms-it's all I can do to not hop on a plane and get over there and sort, organize and copy stuff! : )

these pictures are mainly from beginning of the year kdg

ELD kdg: easy to change with each topic...blue paper as mounting for student samples

organizing Focus Wall, WWWords, and some lit centers

the rules in pictures and student photos

Gotta run--can't wait to check out blogs later tonight and see your classroom photos! Enjoy watching the Olympics!
